Standard Hard Chrome Plated Shafts

Our standard chrome shafting is the go-to choice for a vast range of hydraulic applications. The process involves taking a high-strength steel bar and applying a substantial layer of hard chrome plating to its surface.

• Benefits: This creates an incredibly smooth, corrosion-resistant surface. The hard chrome layer protects the steel from rust and environmental damage while ensuring extended life for the hydraulic seals that run against it.

Induction Hardened Chrome Shafts

For the most demanding and heavy-duty applications, we offer induction hardened chrome shafts. This is a two-step process that provides ultimate durability.

• Induction Hardening: Before chroming, the surface of the shaft is induction hardened. This heat treatment process creates a hardened casing around the steel core, dramatically increasing its resistance to impact and dents.

• Chrome Plating: The hardened shaft is then plated with the same thick layer of hard chrome for corrosion resistance and a smooth finish.

This option is ideal for equipment in mining, construction, and forestry, where the piston rod is exposed to external impacts from rocks and debris.

Our Specifications

Quality is in the details. By manufacturing and importing our own shafting, we maintain strict control over the specifications that matter most for your hydraulic cylinders.

• Base Material: High-tensile Steel – CK45, EN8, EN19.

• Diameter Tolerance: All our chrome shafts are ground to a precise ISO f7 tolerance, ensuring a perfect fit with standard seals, bushings, and guides.

• Surface Roughness: The surface is polished to an exceptional smoothness of Ra≤0.2μm. This mirror-like finish is critical for minimizing seal wear and preventing leaks.

• Chrome Thickness: A typical chrome layer thickness of 20-30 microns provides robust protection and a long service life.

On request we can manufacture any range of hard chrome plated shafts up to 14m in length in normal chrome and induction hardened.
