What is Induction Hardening?

Induction hardening is a precise, high-speed heat treatment process that creates a hardened, wear-resistant "case" or skin on the surface of a steel shaft, while the inner core of the shaft remains ductile and tough.

The process uses a powerful, high-frequency electromagnetic field to rapidly heat the surface of the shaft to a specific temperature. Once heated, it is immediately quenched (rapidly cooled). This controlled thermal process alters the microstructure of the steel's surface, resulting in a significant increase in hardness and durability exactly where it's needed most—on the outside.
