AC HONED TUBE GROUP PROFILE & HISTORY

AC Honed tube was founded in 1978 by André Calitz and was known as Hydrofit Engineering.  At that time we specialsed in the design and manufacture of specialised hydraulic equipment.  We found there was a shortage of honed cylinder tubing and chrome shafting, so we investigated the possibility of manufacturing these products locally.

We built a honing machine and later purchased a large honed tube manufacturing plant form British Steel.  We also set up an agreement for the distribution of their material.  We are now sourcing material form all over the world to get the best quality and prices possible.  A hard chrome plant company was purchased for the manufacturing of chrome shafting and hard chroming.  Due to the change in product, our name was changed to AC HONED TUBE and AC HARD CHROME.

We are now one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of honed and unhoned tube and chrome shafting in Africa.  We also do deep hole drilling and skive and burnishing.  Our latest addition to the Group is our fine finished products plant, manufacturing and supplying peeled and polished bar, induction hardened bar, ground bar and chrome bar.  We now have endless manufacturing and jobbing possibilities.

The Group and staff are dedicated to absolute quality and we use only the best quality materials available.  Our staff and labour force are highly skilled and trained to produce excellent quality products at the best price available.  The Group is situated in Alrode South Alberton, on +/- 15,000 m² of property with +/- 8,000 m² under roof, consisting of 7 bays with 10 overhead cranes up to 10 ton and we are still expanding.
